Wordsmiths and more
We are writers for business. Not just copywriters, but wordsmiths. Valued as much for our consultancy, creativity and insights as we are for our writing.
Why choose Ideal
We’ve been writing for decades and have written thousands of words for hundreds of organisations. Commercial and not-for-profit clients work with us to shape and communicate their image, ideas and ideals.
We also work in collaboration with other creative agencies. Adding a professional wordsmith’s touch – along with stacks of innovative ideas – to help them win new business and hit the mark on client briefs.
Our way with words
If you’re starting with a blank sheet, we’ll help you decide on the best approach. We’re perceptive, intuitive and very good at researching and interviewing people to gather information. Thinking – talking – writing. It’s what we do.
Or maybe you have all the info, but it’s in the wrong format or the wrong tone of voice. We’ll edit and shape your communications to work better for you and sound more like you.
We can help you with words, from..
crafting key messages to creating a strapline
researching and writing a report to transforming internal writing
establishing a tone of voice to applying it on a website
ghost-writing articles and books to coaching people to write better
E-comms to campaign collateral
A to Z. The works. In words.
Examples of our work...
National Trust: a growing campaign
For the second year of its 'Food Glorious Food' campaign, the National Trust needed to progress its message - from encouragement to grow your own veg to the benefits of taste. Working with designers at Forster, Ideal created a series of creative key messages to inspire supporters to grow and enjoy more local, seasonal food.
Ideal also worked with the agency to craft a key message hierarchy for Amnesty International's 'Demand Dignity: more rights = less poverty'.
Norton: annual cybercrime reports
Each year, the Norton Cybercrime Report and Norton Online Family Report take the global pulse of cybercrime among adults and children. Ideal has worked with Symantec for the past two years, turning raw market research data into compelling consumer-friendly insights with expert commentary.
Ideal has also written and edited numerous reports and reviews for clients from all sectors: from charities like SeeAbility to corporate giants like Diageo.
Southampton University: 'liked' on Facebook
For its 2011 undergraduate recruitment campaign, Southampton University wanted to send an appealing message to 17 year-old prospects incorporating a key point about its research-led achievements. Working with designers at DC Group, Ideal prioritised key messages for an Open Day event, including posters, takeaway booklets and a Facebook 'like' card.
Ideal has also worked with Cranfield University and Lancaster University as well as governmental educational agencies and departments.
Tate Modern: a 10th anniversary newsletter
Tate Modern is best known as one of the world's leading modern art galleries, but closer to home, it enjoys taking the lead on a variety of community initiatives. To celebrate its landmark birthday, Ideal worked with Tate Modern to research and write stories for a special anniversary edition of its 'Tate Modern and You' newsletter.
Ideal has also produced commemorative books for easyJet and Premium Bonds; stories for Forster's anniversary photo-exhibition and a keepsake magazine for The Body Shop staff.
